This release is all about reliability and speed. Here's what changed.
Classic Outlook send delays
Some users on classic Outlook saw a "MailTail is taking longer than expected" message when sending an email, which could hold up the send. We've changed how the add-in works so it applies your signature while you're composing and then stays completely out of the way when you hit send. Sending an email no longer waits on the add-in.
If you deploy MailTail centrally through the Microsoft 365 admin centre, the update rolls out to your users automatically within 24 hours. To apply it immediately, open the MailTail add-in in the admin centre, choose Update, and re-paste the same manifest URL. Classic Outlook users may need to fully restart Outlook once for the change to take effect.
Profile fields now show correctly
Signatures pull details like name, job title, and company straight from each user's Entra ID profile. In some cases a field could stay hidden even when it had a value and the option to hide it had never been offered. Fields now default to showing whenever the data is there, and only hide when an admin has explicitly made that field user-toggleable and the user has chosen to turn it off.
Faster loading worldwide
We now cache the add-in at the network edge, so it loads from a server close to each user rather than always travelling back to our origin. Users outside Europe in particular will notice signatures loading noticeably faster.
Behind the scenes
We also tightened up account setup so new accounts are always created cleanly, and made a handful of smaller reliability improvements.
